Basketball Game Preview: Quinter Bulldogs vs. Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks

The Quinter Bulldogs will take on the Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks in a tournament on Friday. Quinter will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Quinter lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Pawnee Heights, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. The Bulldogs blew past the Tigers 78-32 on Tuesday. With the Bulldogs ahead 42-15 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Colt Werth and Cooper Havlas were among the main playmakers for Quinter as the former made all 5 shots he took racking up 13 points and three steals and the latter shot 56% from the field on his way to 11 points and eight rebounds. Werth is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jax Ruf, who posted six points along with five boards and five steals.

Quinter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Wheatland-Grinnell didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Rawlins County on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 53-48 victory.

Wheatland-Grinnell's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Quinter, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Quinter was able to grind out a solid win over Wheatland-Grinnell in their previous meeting back in February, winning 40-33. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Thunderhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
