Softball Recap: Hatch Valley Has No Trouble Against Socorro

Hatch Valley barely beat Socorro the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bears put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 16-1 victory on Thursday. The Bears have beaten the Warriors the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Warriors has come to flipping the script.

Alaya Martinez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Martinez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Yaneisy Carranza was a standout: she got on base in four of her seven plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Sarahy Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Hatch Valley's record is now 9-13. As for Socorro, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-18.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Warriors beat Hatch Valley by a score of 15-14 on Saturday.
