Basketball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were dealt a 92-20 loss at the hands of the East Fairmont Bees. The Mountaineers lost against the Bees in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 80-38 score last time.

Kailee Haymond continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for East Fairmont, as she made all 13 shots she took for 33 points and seven steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Haymond has scored at least a third of East Fairmont's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carly Manchin, who made all 6 shots she took to post 13 points.

Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for East Fairmont, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-4.

Looking ahead, Liberty has the luxury of staying home for another game and will welcome Lewis County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for East Fairmont, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-39 win against Lincoln on the 21st.
