Baseball Game Preview: Wapakoneta Redskins vs. Columbus Grove Bulldogs

The Wapakoneta Redskins will venture away from home to face off against the Columbus Grove Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Wapakoneta's pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so Columbus Grove's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Wapakoneta easily dispatched Kenton on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Redskins fell just short of Elida by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. The game marked the first time this year in which the Redskins were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Columbus Grove, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Bluffton on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Wapakoneta's defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-2. As for Columbus Grove, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.

Wapakoneta skirted past Columbus Grove 3-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Redskins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
