Basketball Recap: Horizon Honors Skates Past Chandler Prep with Ease

Horizon Honors won the last time they faced Chandler Prep and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Horizon Honors Eagles breezed past the Chandler Prep Titans to the tune of 52-12. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Titans are ranked 274th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Horizon Honors to victory were Alicia Londono and Josie Barden. Londono went 5-for-10 on her way to 13 points and five steals, while Barden posted 11 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Londono has become a key player for Horizon Honors: the team is 10-4 when she posts at least three steals, but 6-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ana Gracia, who put up four points and seven rebounds.

Horizon Honors smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.

When it comes to explaining why Chandler Prep lost, don't look at Kyra Tucker. Despite the final result, she scored six points.

Horizon Honors has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.6 points over those games. As for Chandler Prep, they dropped their record down to 3-21 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Horizon Honors didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-18 victory against Heritage Academy on the 6th. As for Chandler Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 29-20 defeat against Lincoln Prep on the 6th.
