Basketball Recap: Leetonia Comes Up Short

Leetonia lost against Valley Christian back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Leetonia Bears were dealt a 63-33 defeat at the hands of the Valley Christian Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 824th, while the Eagles are ranked 339th).

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dylan Johns, who posted eight points. The dominant performance also gave Johns a new career-high in field goal percentage (80%). CJ Faulkner was another key player, putting up eight points.

Leetonia dropped their record down to 5-16 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Valley Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 16-4.

Looking ahead, Leetonia will square off against Waterloo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Waterloo has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Valley Christian has already played their next contest (against Heartland Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
