Baseball Recap: Patriot Has No Trouble Against JW North

Patriot won the last time they faced JW North and things went their way on Saturday too. The Patriot Warriors walked away with a 5-1 victory over the JW North Huskies. That four run margin sets a new team best for the Warriors this season.

The team relied heavily on Dustin Thayer, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Patriot: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Daniel Holguin also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Patriot hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

The win snapped Patriot's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-4 record. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 2.25 runs. As for JW North, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Coming up, Patriot will face off against Norte Vista at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for JW North, they and Orange Vista will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. JW North's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three games, but Tuesday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.
