Basketball Game Preview: Berean Academy Eagles vs. BASIS - Mesa

The Berean Academy Eagles will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against BASIS - Mesa at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Berean Academy is coming home looking for redemption after taking a loss in their road opener. They took a 39-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Skyline - Gila River on Thursday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with Skyline - Gila River recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Caleb Ayala, who posted ten points and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Tanabe, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile, BASIS - Mesa hadn't done well against Skyline - Gila River recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. BASIS - Mesa came out on top against Skyline - Gila River by a score of 58-50.

BASIS - Mesa's win came from a few key players Berean Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Joey Frivaldo, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine steals. The contest was his sixth in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Omari Hester, who went 6-for-13 on his way to 15 points and eight steals.

Berean Academy beat BASIS - Mesa 55-44 in their previous matchup back in January. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do BASIS - Mesa have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
