Mandeville hasn't had much luck against Amite recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mandeville Skippers will look to defend their home court against the Amite Warriors at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Mandeville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.
Last Wednesday, Mandeville was fully in charge, breezing past St. Thomas Aquinas 71-36. The Skippers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Alanna Benoit, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten boards. The match was her tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Galiano, who went 5 for 6 en route to 13 points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Amite was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. The game between them and Edna Karr didn't end well, with Amite falling 71-54. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while the Cougars are ranked 14th).
Mandeville will need focus on slowing down Kayla Toefield, one of several Amite players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 14 points along with eight assists and four steals. Toefield has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Shamaya Walker, who had eight points in addition to five boards and three steals.
Even though they lost, Amite was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.
Mandeville is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Amite, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.
Mandeville was able to grind out a solid win over Amite when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 66-54. Does Mandeville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Amite turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
