Basketball Recap: Blaine Comes Up Short

Blaine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss. They took a blow against the Mount Vernon Bulldogs, falling 92-49. While losing is never fun, the Borderites can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 143rd).

Blaine's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Mount Vernon, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blaine won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Sedro-Woolley at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Sedro-Woolley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 contests. As for Mount Vernon, they and Mt. Baker will face off at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
