Softball Recap: Yorba Linda Gets the Win

Yorba Linda's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They never let the Troy Warriors get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Samantha Cook made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. Cook was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Madeline Jeanblanc was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Brooke Boyd also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Yorba Linda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in seven consecutive contests.

Yorba Linda now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Troy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Yorba Linda will welcome Sonora at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Troy, they will head out to square off against Crean Lutheran at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors are facing the Saints at the right time seeing as the Saints are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
