Baseball Recap: Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Makes It Five in a Row at Home

On Friday Russell-Tyler-Ruthton's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lac qui Parle Valley Eagles, sneaking past 11-9. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Kolby Louwagie was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Louwagie was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sean Griesse, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those doubles marked the first that he hit this season. Eli Determan was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Lac qui Parle Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
