There's no place like home for the Goretti Gael, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 81-73 victory over Calvert Hall on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Calvert Hall lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brendan Johnson. Despite the final result, he scored 43 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Johnson scored a full 58.9% of Calvert Hall's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Nalty , who scored 9 points.
Goretti's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Calvert Hall, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Goretti will be playing at home against St. Frances Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (St. Frances Academy is ranked sixth, while Goretti is ranked 17th). As for Calvert Hall, they will head out on the road to face off against Riverdale Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Riverdale Baptist focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five last Saturday.
