Softball Recap: Hamilton Comes Up Short

Hamilton extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-11. They came up short against the Crawford Pirates, falling 15-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 16-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

As for Crawford, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. Considering they have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Crawford's part, Mattie Ratliff was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Ratliff a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Crawford got a massive performance out of Camrie Buice, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Macey Cloud was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coincidentally, Hamilton and Crawford will both be playing Bruceville-Eddy the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will host the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Pirates will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
