The Huntley Red Raiders will take on the Kaneland Knights in a tournament on Friday. The timing is sure in Huntley's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Kaneland has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
Huntley's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Jacobs. The Red Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.
Gretchen Huber tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lana Hobday, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Lyla Ginczycki was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Huntley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Kaneland had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged out Ottawa 4-3 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted against the Pirates since May 4, 2022.
Ellie Peck was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. Peck was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Peck wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Addison Coulter, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Coulter's first of the season.
Huntley is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Kaneland, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
Huntley came out on top in a nail-biter against Kaneland in their previous meeting back in May of 2022, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Red Raiders repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
