Softball Recap: False River Comes Up Short

False River had lost five straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 10-12-1 to make it six. They lost 13-2 to the Maurepas Wolves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 two weeks ago.

False River saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shelby Donohue, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Maurepas, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

On Maurepas' side, the team relied heavily on Khloe Luquette, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Gabby Bell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. False River will challenge White Castle at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.53 runs per game on average), something the Gators will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Maurepas, they will take on Independence at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
