The Champlain Valley Union Redhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Plattsburgh Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Things were looking good for Champlain Valley Union after they put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Mt. Abraham by a score of 8-7.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plattsburgh). They never let Northern Adirondack get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Tuesday. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Plattsburgh let Nate Baker and Braeden Calkins run wild. Baker scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Calkins scored two runs while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Scott Gommel, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Plattsburgh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northern Adirondack only managed two hits.

Champlain Valley Union now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Plattsburgh, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-3.
