Preview: Bethel Christian Kings vs. Yucaipa Thunderbirds
The Bethel Christian Kings will play host again and welcome the Yucaipa Thunderbirds, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Bethel Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They breezed by Norton Science & Language Academy at home to the tune of 99-31. Bethel Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 27 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Josh Coba, who went 7 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 44 points and 3 assists. He is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Joseph Kyababchian, who scored 13 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Yucaipa waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Citrus Valley by a score of 73-61.
Yucaipa's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jonathan Campbell, who scored 20 points, and Malik Young, who scored 24 points. Young has been hot recently, having posted 24 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Doty, who scored ten points.
Bethel Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Yucaipa, they pushed their record up to 14-14 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
