Moffat County not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since October 15, 2024 (when they won 3-0). They put the hurt on the Olathe Pirates with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Moffat County never let Olathe on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 27-25, 25-19.
Sofia Vanzo paced Moffat County's offense, picking up six kills. Vanzo got some help from Adrian Profumo and her 17 assists. Profumo was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.
Olathe's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Aundrea Garcia, who had seven digs and two aces, and Haley Cox, who had 13 digs, four aces, and two blocks. Cox has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Gwen Nelson also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.
The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-7. As for Olathe, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
After both having extra time off, Moffat County and Grand Valley will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Olathe, they will venture away from home to challenge Ridgway at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
