Softball Recap: Waller's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Langham Creek, Waller was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Cypress Springs Panthers a 17-0 shutout. Considering the Bulldogs have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

MaKenzie Dillon made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Laela Hilbun was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Avery Jameson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Waller always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cypress Springs only posted an OBP of .125.

The win snapped Waller's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-17 record. As for Cypress Springs, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-13-1 record this season.

Waller will square off against Cypress Park at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Cypress Springs, they will take on Cypress Lakes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
