Basketball Recap: Trace Hartsoe Key Part of a Team Effort in Panthers Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Montezuma-Cortez faced off against Ignacio on Tuesday. The Montezuma-Cortez Panthers took down the Ignacio Bobcats 77-61. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Montezuma-Cortez's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trace Hartsoe, who went 6 for 7 on his way to 13 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Tay Wheat, who posted 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Montezuma-Cortez smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Montezuma-Cortez's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Ignacio, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.
