Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Tehachapi's Third in Last Four Outings

Tehachapi lost to Porterville back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. Tehachapi came out on top against Porterville by a score of 5-2. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by exactly three runs.

Cadence McIrvin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since March 4th. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily Perkins, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.

Tehachapi hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in four consecutive matches.

Tehachapi is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. Porterville has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Tehachapi and Porterville could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Tehachapi (ranked 397th) will meet Bakersfield Christian (ranked 165th) at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Porterville will square off against Redwood at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday down 575 places (649 vs. 74).
