Baseball Recap: Highland Comes Up Short

Highland had lost 22 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-17 to make it 23. They lost 14-4 to the Skyline Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, with their most recent defeat being a 11-0 loss on Wednesday.

Highland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Jackson Gold also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

As for Skyline, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-10. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Skyline's side, they let Cole Muse and George Zervos run wild. Muse went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Zervos went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Zervos has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Peyton PapaDakis, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Coming up, Highland will welcome Olympus at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams will need to watch out since the Titans have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Skyline, they are taking a road trip to face off against West at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a 19-game losing streak.
