Basketball Recap: Wauneta-Palisade Takes a Loss

Wauneta-Palisade was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a hard 51-36 fall against the Cheylin Cougars. If the Broncos were looking for revenge after losing 65-35 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Leading Cheylin to victory were Landon Schoenberger and Kohen Pochop. Schoenberger posted 20 points and five assists, while Pochop put up 15 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. With that strong performance, Schoenberger is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Another player making a difference was Andrew Wright, who posted eight points.

Wauneta-Palisade's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Cheylin, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wauneta-Palisade will take on Hitchcock County on Friday. As for Cheylin, they will square off against Northern Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
