Baseball Recap: South Florence Has No Trouble Against Sumter

South Florence lost to Sumter two weeks ago, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Bruins blew past the Gamecocks 8-1. Considering the Bruins have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Landon Hill was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Ben Tyner also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

South Florence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive games.

South Florence is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Sumter, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Coming up, South Florence will head out on the road to square off against Lakewood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sumter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Blythewood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bengals will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something the Gamecocks surely won't give up without a fight.
