Softball Preview: Camden Bulldogs vs. South Pointe Stallions
The Camden Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the South Pointe Stallions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Camden will be strutting in after a win while South Pointe will be coming in after a loss.
Camden took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They skirted past Lugoff-Elgin 3-1. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Maddie Stokes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jayden Kennedy, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, South Pointe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 25-17 to Dreher.
Katelynne Blythe stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-5 with four runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Traji Curbeam was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs.
Even though they lost, South Pointe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
