Baseball Recap: Wallenpaupack Area Sets Scoring Season-High Against Valley View

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wallenpaupack Area). They came out on top against the Valley View Cougars by a score of 8-4 on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Buckhorns with their most commanding win of the season.

Logan Caruso tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Wallenpaupack Area is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 0-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Michael Paltzer was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Thomas Kiersted, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

The win made it two in a row for Wallenpaupack Area and bumps their season record up to 3-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Valley View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Coming up, Wallenpaupack Area will venture away from home to square off against Abington Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Comets will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Buckhorns surely won't give up without a fight. As for Valley View, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Old Forge at 12:00 p.m. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
