Baseball Recap: Whittier Wins Going Away Against Calvary Chapel

While Whittier put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Calvary Chapel. Everything went the Whittier Cardinals' way against the Calvary Chapel Grizzlies as the Whittier Cardinals made off with a 17-0 win. That 17 run margin sets a new team best for the Cardinals this season.

Andrew Ruvalcaba and Carl Collins did most of the damage at the plate: Ruvalcaba scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Collins scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave Collins a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrick Monreal, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Whittier now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Calvary Chapel, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Whittier will challenge Glenn at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Whittier's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Glenn's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for the Grizzlies, they will take on the Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Grizzlies have given up an average of 13.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
