The South Decatur Cougars will head out to face off against the Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. South Decatur will be strutting in after a win while Shawe Memorial will be coming in after a defeat.
South Decatur gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They skirted past Edinburgh 4-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Corey Nugent was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Nugent wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Drake Scaggs, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Another was JP Scudder, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Shawe Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Rising Sun, falling 10-0.
Cavaan Hambrick was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
Shawe Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for South Decatur, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-3.
Shawe Memorial's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. South Decatur has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Shawe Memorial, though, as they've been averaging only 4.2 strikeouts. Will South Decatur keep running through batters, or will the Hilltoppers buck the trend?
South Decatur took their win against Shawe Memorial in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
