Omaha Central has gone 8-2 against Omaha South recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Packers at 4:00 p.m. Omaha Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Omaha Central turned things around against Buena Vista on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Bison.
The team relied heavily on Blake Demman, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Mark Ripp was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.
Omaha Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buena Vista struck out six times.
Meanwhile, Omaha South earned a 13-9 victory over Bryan on Tuesday. The Packers haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Lou Hodoly made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing six bases while going 3-for-4. Those six stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Caleb Williams was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kooper Gray, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-5.
Omaha Central's record is now 3-4. As for Omaha South, their record now sits at 4-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Omaha Central hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Omaha South struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Omaha Central beat Omaha South 8-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
