It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Farmersville had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Kaufman Lions with a sharp 13-1 win. The result was nothing new for Farmersville, who have now won 14 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jamie Varga was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Varga has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive pitching appearances. Varga was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Farmersville got a massive performance out of Carleigh Deeds, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and a run. Alyssa Smith was another key contributor, going 1-for-2 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.
