Softball Recap: Crosby-Ironton Comes Up Short

After flying high against Marshall on Thursday, Crosby-Ironton came back down to earth. The Rangers lost 17-4 to the Aitkin Gobblers on Friday. If the Rangers were looking for revenge after losing 7-0 to the Gobblers when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Rayne Avelsgard and Amanda Wiseley-Peterson did some serious damage despite the final result: Avelsgard went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Wiseley-Peterson went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

Crosby-Ironton has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Aitkin, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-7.

Coming up, Crosby-Ironton will take on Proctor at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Rails have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Aitkin, they will welcome Two Harbors at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Agates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.46 runs per game on average), something the Gobblers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
