Basketball Game Preview: Lake Norman Wildcats vs. Cox Mill Chargers

Lake Norman is 9-0 against Cox Mill since December of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Lake Norman Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Cox Mill Chargers at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Cox Mill is hoping to do what Hickory Ridge couldn't on Thursday: put an end to Lake Norman's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Lake Norman claimed a resounding 71-43 win over Hickory Ridge. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 28 points or more this season.

Lake Norman's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kelsey Rhyne, who went 8 of 16 on her way to 25 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Rhyne has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Rayana Minard, who went 8 of 14 on her way to 20 points along with five boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Cox Mill posted their biggest win since December 3, 2024 on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 61-37 margin over A.L. Brown. The Chargers pushed the score to 53-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wonders cut but never quite recovered from.

Lake Norman pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.1 points per game. As for Cox Mill, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.

Everything went Lake Norman's way against Cox Mill in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Lake Norman made off with a 60-34 victory. Will Lake Norman repeat their success, or does Cox Mill have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
