Softball Recap: Tri-County's Winning Streak Snapped at Eight Games

Tri-County dropped their record down to 24-3 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the North Newton Spartans by a score of 2-0. The Cavaliers were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the seven contests prior), but the Spartans' pitchers proved too tough.

As for North Newton, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games.

For North Newton's part, Tri-County's batters probably weren't too happy with Sydney Rainford, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 19 Ks (she gave up two walks). Rainford has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, North Newton's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Rylynn Klemz, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As of now, neither Tri-County nor the Spartans have any future games scheduled.
