Basketball Recap: Baker County Wildcats vs. Middleburg Broncos

After flying high against First Coast last Saturday, Baker County came back down to earth. The Wildcats fell 74-63 to the Middleburg Broncos on Tuesday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Broncos apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Baker County still got an impressive performance from Yamise Haygood, who dropped a double-double with 31 points and 15 boards. That was a full 49.2% of the Wildcats' points, marking the third time in a row Haygood has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Makyla Hyatt, who went 5-for-7 en route to 12 points and eight rebounds.

Kennedy Jeffress had another great game (as she tends to do), shooting 43% from the field to rack up 34 points and five steals for Middleburg. Andrea Brady also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Baker County fell to 2-1. As for Middleburg, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
