Baseball Game Preview: Irvington Vikings vs. American Eagles

For the second straight game, Irvington will face off against American. The Vikings will welcome the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Irvington's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over American.

Irvington got a great performance from Devin Patel as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Patel is becoming a predictor of the Vikings' success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 2-1 (and 3-7 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Brayden Jaksa was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Wesley Ren, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Irvington is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for American, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
