Softball Recap: Raceland Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Raceland had won three straight at home, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 21-7 to make it four. They never let the Dawson-Bryant Hornets get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won three in a row.

The result came thanks to Davanna Grubb's shutout, as she gave up just six hits.

At the plate, Raceland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryna Wellman, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

As for Dawson-Bryant, the defeat snapped their winning streak at 13 games and leaves them with a 16-4 record. Considering the last time they couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

On Dawson-Bryant's side, Abbie Deeds spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. Deeds has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Raceland will host Boyd County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Dawson-Bryant, they will take on South Webster in a tournament on Wednesday.
