North Smithfield came into Monday's match looking for another win against La Salle Academy, but Ty Cotta wouldn't allow it. The Rams put the hurt on the Northmen with a sharp 3-0 win on Monday for which the team can thank Cotta, who had 13 digs. He has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more digs the last nine times he's played.
La Salle Academy not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept North Smithfield between 14 and 17 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-14, 25-17.
Meanwhile, North Kingstown strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against East Providence as they made off with a 3-0 victory.
One reason for the win was North Kingstown's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-16, 25-15.
North Kingstown's win came from a few key players La Salle Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Stephen Dufour, who had seven digs and two assists.
La Salle Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for North Kingstown, they pushed their record up to 24-0 with the win, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season.
