Basketball Game Preview: Pomona Panthers vs. Silver Creek Raptors

Two dominant guards in Dj Hawkins and Luke Schmeeckle are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Pomona Panthers will host the Silver Creek Raptors at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pomona is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.1 points per game this season.

Pomona will face Silver Creek after dropping another heartbreaker against D'Evelyn on Wednesday, which marked the second time in a row the team's come within 3.1 of beating them. Pomona lost 71-47 to D'Evelyn. The game was a close 31-29 at the break, but unfortunately for the Panthers it sure didn't stay that way.

Despite the loss, Pomona got top-tier performance from Hawkins, who posted 26 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Hawkins' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points.

Meanwhile, Silver Creek beat Skyline 66-56 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Raptors in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won three in a row.

Pomona has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. Silver Creek's win bumped their record up to 10-12.
