Soccer Game Preview: Valley Central vs. Cornwall Central

Valley Central hasn't had much luck against Cornwall Central recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Dragons at 4:00 p.m.

Valley Central fell victim to Goshen Central and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to the Gladiators. That's two games in a row now that Valley Central have lost by exactly three goals.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Cornwall Central and Washingtonville have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Dragons' defense stepped up to hand the Wizards a 5-0 shutout. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Cornwall Central's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New York soccer rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Washingtonville are ranked 275th).

Cornwall Central's victory bumped their record up to 9-0-1. As for Valley Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Valley Central might still be hurting after the 5-0 loss they got from Cornwall Central when the teams last played back in September. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
