St. Joseph is on a 17-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Righetti is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Knights will welcome the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (St. Joseph 3, Righetti 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
St. Joseph came out on top against Templeton on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Knights were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Eagles. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by nine runs or more this season.
Annalyssa Cota was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaycie Gavlak, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Righetti sidestepped Lompoc for a 4-2 victory.
Emily Fortin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Righetti let Keonna Ramos and Sereniti Lopez run wild. Ramos went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run, while Lopez went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Natalia Cervantes, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
St. Joseph's win bumped their record up to 18-3-1. As for Righetti, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. St. Joseph has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Righetti struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Joseph got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March against Righetti by a conclusive 11-2 score. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
