Volleyball Recap: Gigi Barbosa Key Part of Team Effort in Jaguars Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Georgia-Cumberland Academy duked it out with Praise Academy on Monday. The Jaguars walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Lions. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.

Georgia-Cumberland Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-20.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Georgia-Cumberland Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gigi Barbosa, who had 31 digs and four aces. The dominant performance also gave Barbosa a new career-high in assists (38). Another player making a difference was Milly Crecelius, who had 37 digs and six kills.

Georgia-Cumberland Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Praise Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.

Looking ahead, Georgia-Cumberland Academy will head out on the road to challenge Johnson Ferry Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Praise Academy, they will welcome Unity Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
