Basketball Recap: E.E. Smith Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

E.E. Smith was the 65-53 winner over Harnett Central when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The E.E. Smith Golden Bulls took a 65-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Harnett Central Trojans on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Golden Bulls came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while the Trojans are ranked 408th).

E.E. Smith's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6. As for Harnett Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-7.

E.E. Smith will challenge Pine Forest at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Harnett Central, they will square off against Terry Sanford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Harnett Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Terry Sanford likes a good challenge.
