Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Lincoln

Lincoln waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Balboa Buccaneers with a sharp 13-3 win. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly ten runs.

Jerry Hou and Nicholas Chiu did most of the damage at the plate: Hou scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Chiu scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave Hou a new career-high. Kai Beckham was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

Lincoln was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive games.

Lincoln's record is now 7-10. As for Balboa, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Lincoln and Balboa could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Mustangs will challenge Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (880 vs. 321). Meanwhile, Balboa (ranked 1212th) will meet Lowell (ranked 516th) at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
