Softball Game Preview: Lorena Leopards vs. Connally Cadets

For the second straight game, Lorena will face off against Connally. The Leopards will square off against the Cadets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lorena is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

Lorena's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Connally. The win continues a trend for the Leopards in their matchups with the Cadets: they've now won nine in a row.

Jaylie Werner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Werner was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Holly Barrett was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abby Generals, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Lorena was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Lorena's record now sits at 19-10. As for Connally, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lorena hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Connally struggles in that department as they've averaged .350. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
