Basketball Recap: Godley Comes Up Short

On Friday, the Godley Wildcats took a blow against the Gordon Longhorns, falling 56-24. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1070th, while the Longhorns are ranked 358th).

Godley has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost 17 of their last 18 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-24 record this season. As for Gordon, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Godley will host Alvarado at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Alvarado knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Godley likes a good challenge. As for Gordon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eula at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eula will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Gordon surely won't give up without a fight.
