Softball Recap: East Webster Takes a Loss

East Webster was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pontotoc Warriors. The Wolverines were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 8-2.

East Webster saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paytan Sanders, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI Sanders has posted since back in February. Kambry Reed also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Even though they lost, East Webster hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matches.

East Webster's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Pontotoc, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Coming up, East Webster will host Starkville at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pontotoc, they will take on Corinth at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
