Basketball Recap: Midd-West Comes Up Short

Midd-West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Shamokin Area Indians and fell 84-41. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 679th, while the Indians are ranked 44th).

When it comes to explaining why Midd-West lost, don't look at D'Zani Coley. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Logan Hollenbach, who scored nine points.

Shamokin Area's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Case Litchy, who put up 14 points. Cru Schroyer was another key player, putting up nine points and five boards.

Midd-West's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Shamokin Area, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.

Midd-West wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 61-30 defeat against Jersey Shore on the 3rd. As for Shamokin Area, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 75-44 victory against Selinsgrove on the 3rd.
