Raymond Carson commands the offense for Spartans win

Recap: Lathrop Spartans vs. Ceres Bulldogs

Even though the Ceres Bulldogs scored an imposing 59 points on Monday, the Lathrop Spartans still came out on top. Lathrop walked away with a 67-59 win over Ceres. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lathrop.

Lathrop's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Raymond Carson led the charge by scoring 23 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Robert Ellis, who scored 18 points along with two steals.

Despite the loss, Ceres still got an impressive performance from Manuel Ortega, who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds. Ortega hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Carey Mastin, who scored seven points along with ten assists and three steals.

Lathrop's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Ceres, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-8.

Lathrop will head out on the road to face off against Pacheco at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Pacheco has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15. As for Ceres, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Beyer at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Beyer has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
