Mercy McAuley had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ursuline Academy Lions on Monday, sneaking past 5-4. The Wolves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.

Sophia Ward spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Callie Elmer was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Mercy McAuley's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-6. As for Ursuline Academy, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercy McAuley will challenge Anderson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ursuline Academy, they will take on St. Ursula Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
